During the Erasmus+ Training Course Youth Leaders on Air, held in Furnari from 27 October to 4 November 2025, youth workers and young leaders from different European countries came together for a meaningful week of learning, creativity, collaboration, and intercultural exchange. Set in the beautiful surroundings of Sicily, the training course created a space where participants could strengthen their leadership, communication, and digital storytelling skills while building genuine international connections.
From the very beginning, the atmosphere was energetic, welcoming, and full of curiosity. Through team-building activities, energisers, reflection exercises, and creative workshops, participants quickly connected with one another and created a supportive learning environment. Everyone had the opportunity to share their experiences, passions, dreams, and ideas, making the group dynamic both inspiring and inclusive.
A central focus of the training course was podcast creation and storytelling as tools for youth participation and social impact. Participants explored hosts' BeTheChange online platform and worked in international teams to create their own podcast episodes connected to leadership, social change, and youth voices. Throughout the process, they developed practical competences in public speaking, teamwork, digital media, recording, editing, and creative communication. Despite facing some technical and organisational challenges, participants continuously supported each other, turning every difficulty into a learning opportunity.
Beyond the educational activities, the training course was also rich in cultural exchange and human connection. Intercultural nightsbrought participants together through traditional food, dances, music, and customs from different countries, creating unforgettable moments of laughter and friendship. Outdoor activities, nature walks, beach sessions, and the visit to Cefalù allowed participants to experience the local culture and strengthen the bonds created throughout the project.
As the training course came to an end, emotional reflection activities, gratitude circles, and the presentation of the final podcast productions highlighted the personal and professional growth achieved during the week. Youth Leaders on Air became much more than a training course, it was an experience that empowered participants to express themselves with confidence, collaborate across cultures, and recognise the importance of youth voices in creating positive change within their communities.
